Two more people in Allegheny County have died from covid-19, raising the death toll to 122, the Allegheny County Health Department said Sunday morning.
Seventeen more people were confirmed as either having covid-19 or were probable over the past day, raising the total number on Sunday to 1,503 cases, the health department said.
There have been 273 people hospitalized since the first case in the county was diagnosed in March. That number has not changed since Saturday, when there was increase of 14 covid-19 patients from Friday, the county said. Of that number, 116 have been in the intensive care unit and 66 patients have been on ventilators, as of Sunday, which is no change from Saturday. The health department said 20,967 people have been tested for coronavirus as of Sunday, an increase of 266 from Saturday.
The cases by age indicate the covid-19 has a greater impact on older adults. Of the number of cases in Allegheny County, 58% of all cases involve patients age 50 and older. By contrast, only 2% of cases involves people from infancy to age 19.
Among municipalities outside Pittsburgh, Richland Township, has 77 cases. That’s equal to a rate of 69 cases per 10,000 people. Kennedy Township had 52 cases as of Sunday, which is a rate of 67 per 10,000 people.
