The Allegheny County Health Department

A consumer alert that was lifted for the Family Dollar in Crafton on April 29 has been reinstated after Allegheny County Health Department inspectors found evidence of a continued rodent infestation during an inspection May 9.

Rodent droppings — “too many to count throughout the facility” — were found under soda crates, in the chip aisle and in the cat food aisle, according to the May 9 inspection report.

A chewed up package of vanilla wafers and a bag of chips with a hole chewed through it were found and discarded, according to the report.

Such alerts date back to December 2018, including alerts issued in March and April, but the facility has not been ordered to close.
