Aspiring film technicians will have a new option to consider with the grand opening Thursday of the Community College of Allegheny County’s new Film Center.

The Center, which will house CCAC’s expanding film technician program, is located at CCAC’s South Campus in West Mifflin. It includes a film studio, sound room, construction area, wood shop, computer lab, classroom, dressing room and equipment center.

CCAC officials said it will be used to prepare students for in-demand careers in the region’s expanding film industry.

Students enrolled in the film technician program will be on hand, along with examples of their work, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Film Center at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in room A305 of Building A at CCAC South Campus, 1750 Clairton Road in West Mifflin.
