Fire crews work to rescue two women whose car crashed into a creek Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019.

Two women were rescued after their car crashed over a hillside into a creek 30 feet below in McKeesport Tuesday night, Trib news partner WPXI reports.

Allegheny County officials reported a two-vehicle crash on Long Run Road near Walnut Street about 5:30 p.m.

The driver lost control and jumped the curb and several stone barriers.

Fire crews from McKeesport and the surrounding areas used a ladder truck like a crane to hoist a stretcher up to the road, WPXI reported.

Both women were rescued within about an hour. They were taken to a local hospital, where they are in critical condition, according to WPXI.

County officials said rescue efforts did not require any road closures.

McKeesport and Allegheny County Police are investigating.
