Allegheny County reports no new coronavirus deaths or hospitalizations, just 8 new cases

Allegheny County on Sunday reported no new coronavirus deaths, no new hospitalizations and just eight new cases.

The latest figures bring the total number of covid-19 cases in the county to 1,603 since the first case was reported here March 14. Total deaths remained at 143, and total hospitalizations stayed at 292.

All deaths are of individuals ranging in age from 42-103, with 84 being the median age of those who have died. About 95 percent of deaths have occurred in individuals 60 and older.

Of those who required hospitalization, 120 were admitted to intensive care units, and 67 required the use of a ventilator.

More than 23,000 tests have been administered for which the Allegheny County Health Department has received results.

About 54 percent of coronavirus cases in the county have occurred in women, according to county data.

Allegheny County on Friday was among the counties that moved to the yellow phase of Gov. Tom Wolf’s reopening plan.
