Allegheny County reports 19 new covid-19 cases, 1 new death

Allegheny County reported 19 new covid-19 cases on Tuesday, a significant decrease from the 45 new cases that were reported on Monday.

That brings Allegheny County’s total number of cases to 2,239. Of those, 2,100 are confirmed and 139 are probable cases.

Five new coronavirus-related hospitalizations and one new death also were reported Tuesday, bringing the total number of hospitalizations to 370 and deaths to 179.

Of the total number of deaths, 167 are confirmed and 12 are probable.

Those who died were between the ages of 23 and 103, with 84 being the median age.

According to county health officials, the 23-year-old’s death occurred at the end of April, but the death was mistakenly listed in a neighboring county. The individual had significant complex chronic health conditions, county health officials said.

Women account for 53% of the total cases.

The breakdown of Allegheny County covid-19 cases is as follows:

0-4: 20 (1%)

5-12: 28 (1%)

13-18: 38 (2%)

19-24: 165 (7%)

25-49: 770 (34%)

50-64: 565 (25%)

65 +: 653 (29%)
