Allegheny County reports 15 new coronavirus cases, 4 deaths
Allegheny County officials reported 15 additional cases of covid-19 and four more deaths Tuesday.
This brings the countywide totals to 1,526 confirmed or probable cases and 127 deaths since March 14, when the first case was reported.
Tuesday’s new cases and deaths are up from Monday, when the county reported eight additional cases and one more death. There were three deaths and 48 additional cases reported in Allegheny County over the weekend.
The youngest person to have died from the coronavirus in Allegheny County was 42 years old and had underlying conditions, county officials said.
Of the 280 hospitalizations in recent weeks, 117 people were admitted to an ICU and 67 have required a ventilator.
More than 21,000 people have been tested countywide, according to county health department data.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting that 363 residents and 104 staff members at 36 long-term care facilities in Allegheny County have tested positive for the coronavirus. There have been 97 deaths at those facilities.
The state reported 837 new cases of the coronavirus Tuesday, pushing the statewide total to 57,991. There also were 75 more deaths, bringing the statewide total to 3,806.
