Three people were shot and killed in Wilkinsburg on Friday, June 19, 2020.

An effort is underway to raise money for one of the three people who were shot and killed early Friday in Wilkinsburg.

A Wilkinsburg police officer on patrol heard gunfire just before 1:30 a.m. in the area of Coal Street, Allegheny County Police said. Allegheny County 911 then received calls about a shooting in the 1400 block of Coal Street.

The victims were identified as Tara Alice Joseph, 48, of Pitcairn; Oliver Andrew Finley, 43, of Wilkinsburg; and Harold Hicks, 51, of Pittsburgh.

The bodies of Joseph and Finley were found near Coal and Maple streets, county police said.

The third victim, Hicks, was found in Hunter Park.

A member of Joseph’s family started an online fund-raising campaign to help cover her funeral expenses.

The suspect in the shooting is described as a black man who was wearing a light blue shirt and khaki pants. He was seen fleeing the scene in a royal blue Pontiac G6.

Anyone with information is asked to call the county police tip line at 833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
