Veterans Day on Nov. 11 was a special day for students in the Pine-Richland School District.
JROTC cadets at the high school hosted a breakfast with community veterans. Members of the high school orchestra, women’s ensemble and band provided the entertainment.
Following breakfast, the cadets performed a flag-folding ceremony and POW/MIA table demonstration.
Attendees then got to watch a preview of the fall play, “The Election,” which revolves around a tightly contested race to be student body president.
At Hance Elementary School, students invited family members who served in the military for breakfast. The visitors paraded through the school and were cheered on and thanked by students who made signs to celebrate.
At Richland Elementary School, students collected canned goods and nonperishable items for its Veterans Food Drive in collaboration with Inspired Hearts and Hands. The boxes of food will be added to the organization’s warehouse inventory and distributed to veterans in need.
