Pine remembers longtime Wexford Volunteer Fire Company member with proclamation
Pine supervisors recognized the late Richard Voll, a longtime resident and volunteer firefighter, for his dedication and contributions to the township at their Feb. 18 meeting.
“This past week, we lost a true community steward. Mr. Richard Voll passed away. His volunteerism showed in his dedication to his community, to his church and to the Wexford Volunteer Fire Company. We lost a true Pine resident,” township Manager Jason Kratsas said.
Voll died Feb. 13. He was 80.
Voll joined the Wexford Volunteer Fire Company in 1961 after his military service in the Army. He was known as an upstanding member of the company through his 64 years of service. During his time with the company, Voll held the offices of president and assistant chief and was a life member of the company.
The fire company announced Voll’s passing on Facebook with an end-of-watch statement. It noted he stayed connected with the station in his later years and would be deeply missed.
“Richard’s commitment is unparalleled. Over the years, he’s dedicated countless hours to not only responding to emergencies but also to training, mentoring, and supporting his fellow firefighters,” said Jacob Ballard, assistant chief. “His experience and wisdom have made him a pillar in the township, earning him the respect and admiration of all who have worked alongside him. There will never be another Richard Voll.”
The supervisors issued a proclamation in his honor.
“Richard Voll was a dedicated and passionate member of our community, whose selfless service and unwavering commitment left an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals. … Throughout his lifetime, Voll devoted his time, energy and talents to numerous causes, organizations and initiatives, always striving to uplift and improve the well-being of our community. His numerous contributions have enriched our community and will continue to have a lasting impact for generations to come,” the proclamation read.
Voll leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Carolyn; three children; and two grandchildren.
