Richland Township’s website is getting a new look with a bevy of new features, thanks to technology firm CivicPlus.

“The company’s expertise is working with governments to create a platform that integrates the multiple facets of governmental administration,” assistant township manager Natalie Thiess said at the Feb. 15 board of supervisors meeting.

She said the cost to upgrade the website with the company’s CivicEngage software is $13,725.

Once the changes take effect, Richland residents seeking to apply for permits and zoning hearing board meetings can visit the Civic Government subcategory. Similarly, the Civic Recreation subcategory will allow residents to register online for parks and recreation programs and to reserve facilities.

Other new features coming to the website include the ability to sign up for emailed news flashes and to submit service requests and concerns.

“There are a number of subcategories that have been under construction as we update the website, including the Civic Clerk, where you can find board of supervisors meeting agendas and minutes,” Thiess said.

Residents still will be able to use all the features of the current site — including online payments, interactive maps and access to township news items — while it is being updated.

“Integrating and streamlining services built within our website is the township’s way of looking toward the future to ensure residents are receiving the most efficient services the township can provide,” Thiess said.

She said the rollout of the new website — still at richland.pa.us — will occur on March 1.

In other business at the Feb. 15 board of supervisors meeting, officials approved new pricing for rentals at the Richland Community Barn.

Last year, the rental price increased from $500 to $700 due to the cost of renovations to the barn. Many residents thought the price for a Saturday rental was too steep, so the fee will be reduced from $700 to $600. Residents already who have reserved the barn will be credited with refunds that reflect the drop in price.
