The Pine board of supervisors voted on stormwater management items at the April 17 meeting. The board approved Partial Pay Estimate No. 1 from C.H. & D. Enterprises for the 2023 Storm Sewer Repair Contract for $79,695, as well as the 2023 Stormwater Improvement Project to the low bidder, Gary Metzinger Cement Contractor, for $110,850.

“Both of these projects have been regularly scheduled. The project that was recommended for award to Gary Metzinger Cement Contractor, Inc. is an upgrade to a stormwater pond in Pine Ridge Manor. This work is being done to satisfy permit requirements for the township’s MS4 permit with the DEP. It’s our last one,” township manager Jason Kratsas said.

That work generally includes modifications to an existing storm water detention facility, including excavation and grading, outlet structure modifications, riprap aprons – the structures that are used to protect soil from turbulence and high velocities which can otherwise cause scour erosion – and all other necessary accessories and restoration for said construction.

According to the township, the scope of work for the C.H. & D. project generally consists of 45 inlet replacements, inlet repairs, 3,000 linear feet of storm sewer pipe dig repairs, two alternates for storm sewer extensions, restoration; traffic control; and all necessary accessories and restoration for said construction on various township roadways.

“The payment application to CH&D is a regularly occurring project that the township has every year to repair our existing stormwater system — catch basins, pipes, et cetera,” Kratsas said. “This project is located on streets in a wide variety of areas in the township.”
