Renovations underway at Pine Community Center
Pine Community Center is upgrading its fitness spaces, undergoing a renovation to the lower level of the community center.
“We will be combining two existing fitness rooms into one, which will allow some of our larger classes to move out of the gym and into this new room. The gym will then be available for more programming activities,” assistant township manager Stacey Graf said.
All building enhancements were brought about from input from fitness instructors and members. The primary request was to get wellness and fitness classes out of the gymnasium, as it was too big.
“The current rooms we had were too small. This prompted us to combine exercise room 2 (the current spinning bike room) with exercise room 1 to create one large room. This will include enhanced flooring and storage, along with a sound system. The current exercise room 3 will turn into the new spinning room. This will create a premiere exercise room with all the bells and whistles,” said parks and recreation director Pete Geis.
Pine supervisors approved the renovations contract at the Oct. 16 meeting for a cost of $286,169.
Construction was set to start Dec. 4 and be finished the first week of February. The PCC will remain open throughout the project. The only part of the community center that will be closed are the two exercise rooms that are being combined into one to make the larger space. All classes that would typically be in those two rooms will be relocated during the construction.
