Seventeen Pine-Richland High School students competed Feb. 15 in the Pittsburgh Public Theater’s Shakespeare Monologue and Science Contest at the O’Reilly Theater. Hundreds of students from across the region compete annually in the competition. In preparation, these students were treated to an acting workshop with actor and instructor Aaron Crutchfield on Jan. 26 at Pine-Richland High School.
Student actors included:
• Mackenzie Dry-Henich, grade 9, who performed a monologue from “The Winter’s Tale”
• Grace Kay, grade 10, who performed a monologue from “As You Like It”
• Caris Hernandez, grade 11, who performed a monologue from “As You Like It”
• Angelina Finn, grade 11, who performed a monologue from “Troilus and Cressida”
• Jarah Casciani, grade 9, who performed a monologue from “Taming of the Shrew”
• Aeryn Hayden, grade 10, who performed a monologue from “Love’s Labours Lost”
• Aubrey Myers, grade 9, who performed a monologue from “All’s Well that Ends Well”
• Brianna Thel (Lucetta), grade 11, and Lauren King (Julia), grade 11, who performed a scene from “Two Gentlemen of Verona”
• Ojas Santpure (Benedick), grade 11, and Sydney Rovan (Beatrice), grade 11, who performed a scene from “Much Ado About Nothing”
• Jocelyn Rich (Juliet), grade 11, and Matthew Campbell (Nurse), grade 12, who performed a scene from “Romeo and Juliet”
• Mel Prates (Isabella), grade 12, and John Paulo Folino (Claudio), grade 10, who performed a scene from “Measure for Measure”
• Brynn Surloff (Adrianna), grade 11, and Chloe Kassalen (Luciani), grade 12, who performed a scene from “The Comedy of Errors”
