Participate in Cybersecurity Fair
Slippery Rock University students Christopher Galbraith, a senior dual major in accounting and corporate security; Zachary Neal, a junior computing major; and Collin Shaffer, a junior information systems major, all three from Gibsonia, participated in the university’s Seventh Annual Cybersecurity Fair.
The fair, which took place in October to coincide with National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, serves as an opportunity to increase awareness about cybersecurity within everyday activities while giving students from SRU’s corporate security, homeland security, computing and other technological areas of study the chance to share what they have been learning in the classroom.
Received scholarships
Two local students attending Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio received scholarships.
Kaitlin McGuire of Gibsonia, a graduate of Pine-Richland High School majoring in communication sciences and disorders, earned the Edith A. White Speech Scholarship.
Zach Riggins of Wexford, a graduate of Pine-Richland High School majoring in exercise science, earned the Boesel School of Business Undergraduate Scholarship.
District earns award for Performance Excellence
Pine-Richland School District was one of only five organizations to receive The Mid-Atlantic Alliance for Performance Excellence Award for 2020.
MAAPE, a 501(c)3 organization serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, is focused on helping organizations achieve improved levels of performance by identifying and recognizing role-model organizations and sharing their best practices and strategies. MAAPE is one of 31 state and regional Baldrige-based award programs across the country.
“The pursuit of excellence is a major category within the Pine-Richland strategic plan. It is grounded in the continuous improvement mindset. By participating in MAAPE, we are able to gain insight into strengths and opportunities for improvement,” said district superintendent Dr. Brian R. Miller. “Although the recognition is an important reflection of our district, commitment to the journey of organizational growth is the most critical part. Through these efforts, we are better positioned to achieve our mission for students and families.”
Awardees, including Pine-Richland, will be recognized at MAAPE’s 15th Annual Conference on Nov.12.
