Eighteen Pine-Richland High School world language students participated in the Slippery Rock World Languages Competition in October, along with hundreds of students from Western Pennsylvania. Students completed a cultural scavenger hunt and various language workshops and had the opportunity to write their names in Japanese, create flowers out of papel picado, make buttons and more. Four Pine-Richland students placed in the competition: sophomore Davin Biagini (first in Spanish 2), junior Ian Bowen (second in French 3), junior Levina Jithesh (second in Spanish 3) and sophomore Maddy Dorigo (third in Spanish 2).

Pine-Richland High School was awarded the Pennsylvania Communication Association’s William S. Tacey High School of the Year on Oct. 11 for its dedication to the Forensics Speech and Debate team and for providing a flourishing legacy of effective communicators, opportunities and resources for students. The Forensics Speech and Debate team is coached by Jagriti Dashora, Leticia Harshman and Kayley Symanski.

Felicity Carmichael and Brynn Surloff are enrolled in the University at Buffalo Honors College for the 2023-24 academic year.

Katherine Nury recently matriculated as a member of the Hamilton College Class of 2027. Nury is a graduate of Shady Side Academy.
