Pine Parks and Recreation revamping
Pine Parks and Recreation is getting a new look.
The Pine board of supervisors approved a proposal from Pashek + MTR for $14,000 for Pine branding and sign standards at the June 19 meeting. The new signage is part of a rebranding project with sign standards that are modeled after national standards to bring Pine in line with communities nationwide.
“The Parks Recreation Department is more than a Community Center. Rebranding is necessary to show the public that we can offer so much more,” Pine parks and recreation director Pete Geis said.
Geis presented an update from the parks and recreation department that provided an overview of areas of improvement in the future. Large potential projects include major community center renovations and continued work on the Pine Athletic Center.
Items of the most immediate concern were preparing plans and specifications for parking lot #4 and concrete stairs to the PAC. The proposed lot will have 47 spaces and the estimated cost for the lot is approximately $120,000. The Parks and Recreation Department applied for a grant for this work in April.
The department is exploring different lighting options for the PAC, which will be necessary for games in the fall. Preparation of plans and specifications for a scoreboard and funding discussions are also of vital importance to the development of the PAC. Plans for a grandstand/concession stand for the PAC are also in the works.
