The Pine Environmental Advisory Council kicked off its four-part speaker series on March 23.

Ken Knapp Leah Fulton, assistant naturalists of Latodami Nature Center, joined the Pine EAC for a “Lawn to Nature” program, where residents learned how to turn a small part of their lawns into a native plant garden specially chosen for local wildlife and bring nature back to their yards. Eighteen people attended in person, and nine attended via Zoom.

“This series really focuses on bringing nature back into your backyard and all the ways you can do that,” township planner Kirsten Primm said.

The Pine EAC, in support of and in cooperation with the Latodami Nature Center and the North Area Environmental Council, also provided the opportunity to purchase a lawn to nature kit with everything residents need to convert 100 square feet of their yards into a thriving native plant garden to help local wildlife thrive.

Future dates for the speaker series have not yet been announced.
