Eager truck or treaters descended on Pine Community Park on Oct. 22 in search of candy. This year marked the first joint trunk or treat event between Pine and Richland townships.

“Gina Kampi, Pine Township’s program coordinator, took the lead on this event and did a great job,” Pine parks and recreation director Pete Geis said.

A hayride and a bus were used as shuttles to transport attendees from the parking lots to the park. Kids enjoyed playing Halloween games and doing themed crafts, including decorating their own pumpkins.

“With a history of many separate Halloween events and Trunk or Treats, several community organizations from Pine and Richland townships worked together to create one amazing event. This year, Pine Township, Richland Township, all four Pine Richland Elementary School PTOs, Northern Tier Library, Richland VFD and Wexford VFD created the first Community Trunk or Treat. Almost 600 registered participants got to enjoy 30 trunks, four food booths, a bounce house and more. It took us all working together to create this memorable event,” Geis said.
