PennDOT announces repair plans for hole in Crosstown Boulevard ramp
PennDOT has plans to repair a large hole that appeared Monday on the Crosstown Boulevard ramp to Boulevard of the Allies.
The department is warning drivers about detours scheduled for Friday.
The hole was reported Monday morning. Bystanders beneath the ramp can see directly through the exposed rebar to the sky above. The ramp was closed for a bit Monday and then reopened to drivers that afternoon with steel plates covering the hole.
According to a release from PennDOT, the ramp will go down to one lane from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday. The ramp will close for prep work from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday. The repair itself will bring close the ramp from 8 p.m. Thursday through 6 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.
PennDOT said there will be an additional “around-the-clock lane closure” during that same time period on westbound (inbound) Parkway East (Interstate 376) under the Birmingham Bridge — from 9 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday morning — for painting operations.
