P-T community fills truck with toys
The Penn-Trafford community filled a classroom with hundreds of donated toys for the Penn Township police department’s recent “Stuff-A-Truck” event supporting school district families who need assistance this holiday season.
More toys were collected this year than previous years, a high school spokeswoman said. Some groups contributed handmade toys, such as the Wood Chippers group, who built doll beds, doll high chairs and wooden cars. The Busy Hands Sewing Group made dolls and doll bedding. Penn-Trafford students also donated hundreds of toys, as well as gifts for teens.
The high school nurse’s aides and students in the Community Action Program and National Honor Society organized the gifts and helped stuff the police truck before the items were distributed to families.
Christmas tree recycling sites
Those who want to recycle their undecorated live Christmas tree have three options in Penn Township.
Boy Scout Troop 239 will accept live trees from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 8 at at Schramm Farm & Orchards, Blank Road, in Harrison City. Donations to the Boy Scouts will be accepted.
An open drop-off will be held from Jan. 1-31 at the Level Green Volunteer Fire Department, 536 Route 130.
Valley Landfill at 6015 Pleasant Valley Road, will accept the live trees from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, Dec. 27 -Jan. 31. The landfill is closed on weekends.
