A Wilkinsburg man who Allegheny County Police said shot at two officers in October in Penn Hills was arrested Thursday in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Pittsburgh detectives — who had a court order to conduct surveillance on Darrell Barham’s vehicle — were investigating early Oct. 17 when police said Barham, 40, spotted them.

The detectives left the area in their vehicle and noticed Barham driving behind them, county police said.

As the detectives approached Hulton Road in Penn Hills, they heard multiple gunshots and saw muzzle flashes coming from Barham’s vehicle, county police said.

Barham fled and an arrest warrant was issued. He was charged Oct. 18 with aggravated assault and weapons violations.

The U.S. Marshals Service’s Florida regional task force arrested Barham in Florida on Thursday with the help of the Fort Pierce Police Department and St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.

Barham was under federal supervision for a 2014 federal drug conviction last October when the shooting occurred, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Barham was charged with conspiracy to possess and distribution of heroin in May 2014 — six days before local law enforcement arrested 39 people and accused them of participating in a heroin trafficking and distribution scheme.

The FBI offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information on Barham five months later.

Barham was later issued a federal supervised release violation warrant, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
