Kaiser Morgan, a second grader at Penn Hills Elementary School, was presented with January’s Pride and Promise Award by Superintendent John Mozzocio (left) and Principal Chris Cence during the school board meeting Jan. 29.

The Penn Hills School Board meeting Jan. 29 was packed with special guests to celebrate School Board Appreciation Month and honor the district’s directors.

Board members were treated to a performance from the elementary school chorus. Students sang songs from the group’s winter concert, including “Seven Feet of Snow” and “Let It Snow.” Parents and meeting attendees were invited to sing along.

Each board member was gifted a hand-painted letter from the kindergarten classes. When combined, the letters spell out Penn Hills.

In addition, members of the district’s special education program decorated nine snowmen to represent each member of the school board.

During the meeting, second grader Kaiser Morgan was presented with January’s Pride and Promise student award.

“Whether it’s his classmates, teachers or school staff, every day, Kaiser greets everyone around him with a warm smile,” said elementary school Principal Chris Cence. “His positivity brightens the room, making it impossible not to smile along with him.”
