A sinkhole opened off of Rodi Road in Penn Hills causing a utility pole and power lines to fall onto the street Monday afternoon.

Rodi Road in Penn Hills was temporarily closed after a sinkhole opened up and a utility pole fell Monday afternoon.

Penn Hills police sent out a traffic alert about the hole and power lines being down around 1:30 p.m.

The hole was off the road between Dunkin’ Donuts and Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service.

Flynn’s lost power. The doughnut shop did not.

It was unclear what caused the sinkhole. The road was reopened within a few hours after the pole and wires were removed from the road. It is unclear who will be responsible for fixing the hole.

Duquesne Light crews were expected to make repairs to its service lines.
