The Penn Hills Department of Public Works is requesting residents to avoid on-street parking ahead of expected snowfall on Saturday and Sunday.

The municipality’s Twitter account tweeted this Thursday morning: “Penn Hills Dept of Public Works is preparing for severe weather this weekend. Penn Hills is requesting that you utilize off street parking if it is available. It makes it easier for road crews to access streets. Please use caution while traveling and limit travel if possible.”

Public works was not immediately available to comment.

The National Weather Service in Moon Township forecasts snow showers Thursday evening through Friday morning and is calling for about 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation.

Precipitation – including rain, snow and sleet – begins again Saturday morning and afternoon with a high around 34 and will last through late Sunday morning, NWS predicts.

The amount of snowfall expected is unclear, with predictions ranging from 5 inches and ice in the southern parts of Allegheny County and up to 14 inches in the north.
