Vitalant hosts donation incentives at Pittsburgh area blood drives

To kick off National Blood Donor month, Vitalant has announced more than 40 blood drives taking place throughout the Pittsburgh area.

The nonprofit’s communications manager Maya Santana said seasonal illnesses, inclement weather and busy schedules in the winter months bring challenges to maintaining a stable blood supply.

To motivate more donations, Vitalant is hosting multiple giveaways throughout the month.

Those who donate before Jan. 7 will receive a ’90s-themed T-shirt along with a $15 gift card in Vitalant’s Donor Rewards program.

Those who donate between Jan. 8 and the end of the month will be entered into the Thrive in ’25 giveaway where three people will win a prepaid $10,000 gift card.

For locations and time of donations, or more information about donation incentives, visit donors.vitalant.org.
