A knife was found at Penn Hills High School after an altercation Friday.

In a statement posted on the district’s website, administration officials said an altercation broke out at the high school around noon and Penn Hills police responded to the scene.

According to the adminstration, the situation was contained and the safety of all students and staff was ensured before authorities proceeded with an investigation.

“All students and staff are safe and accounted for,” the statement said.

A knife was found during the investigation, officials said. No injuries were reported related to the incident, they said.

“The Penn Hills School District is following all applicable policies and procedures regarding this matter. Penn Hills School District will not tolerate any violence in its schools or on its campuses,” the statement said.

Penn Hills police Chief Ronald Como said the investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made, he said.
