PALS to meet

Plum Area Ladies Society (PALS) will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 1 in the Plum Community Center, 499 Center-New Texas Road. Members are asked to bring a $15 wrapped gift for the gift exchange and cookies for refreshments. Punch will be served.

For their service project, PALS are asked to donate gently used clothing to Operation Reindeer for residents of Torrance State Hospital, in men’s sizes XL, XXL and 1X or larger, women’s sizes L, XL or larger. Needed items are sweatshirts, sweatpants, tops, T-shirts, pants, jeans, sweaters, pajamas, jackets, coats, outerwear, socks, mittens, gloves, hats, ear muffs and shoes. New underwear and sports bras in larger sizes are urgently needed. Also wanted are CD players, CDs/DVDs, batteries (especially AA), radios, handheld games, headphones, wallets, watches, holiday jewelry, sports memorabilia (especially Pittsburgh teams), craft kits, puzzle books, activity books, writing paper, postage stamps, phone cards, gently-used luggage, and Walmart gift cards in $10-$20 denominations. For their ongoing service project, members also may contribute paper products or cash or checks for the food pantry.

The Ladies Day Out event is a mystery dinner theater at the Lamplighter at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 5. Members going to the dinner theater need to call the Lamplighter to reserve and pay for their place.

PALS is a service and social club open to women from Plum, Penn Hills, Verona, Oakmont, Monroeville and surrounding communities. Newcomers are welcome at the monthly meeting, always held at 6:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month, September through April, at Plum Community Center.
