Road work will begin on Verona Road in Penn Hills beginning Sept. 12.

PennDOT announced the construction, happening between Saltsburg Road and Second Avenue, on Tuesday.

The work will be done by A. Folino Construction Inc. of Oakmont as part the $7.3 million 2022 Capital Roads contract. Work includes milling and paving, base repairs, reconstruction of an intersection, drainage improvements, shoulder work and guardrail replacement.

There will be short stoppages at work zones Sept. 12. The stoppages are expected to end in November. Flaggers will be used to control traffic.

Full closure at the intersection of Verona Road and Second Avenue will start at 9 a.m. Sept. 19. The closure is expected to end in October. Traffic will be detoured using Wildwood Avenue, Allegheny River Boulevard, Plum Street, Hunter Road, Hamil Road and Poketa Road.
