One vote decided the outcome of the Bradford Woods council race for Republican David Baldonieri and Independent Charles Coltharp.
Baldonieri edged out Coltharp, 257 to 256 in the Nov. 2 contest.
Four council members’ terms were ending this year, and all four chose to run again, including Baldonieri and Coltharp.
However, newcomer Republican Daniel Bo Dimond pulled in enough votes to bump Coltharp off the council, according to the Allegheny County Elections Divisions results. The other seats were claimed by fellow incumbents Victoria Laird Pongrace and Kevin Rhule, both Republicans.
The race was close among all candidates: Pongrace 306, Rhule 298, Dimond 269, and Baldonieri at 257. Green Party R. Ward Allebach garnered 233 votes, according to the county results.
“Recounts are only automatic in statewide races. No candidate filed for a recount locally,” said Amie Downs, director of communications for Allegheny County.
Approximately 51 percent of voters turned out for the Bradford Woods race or 993 registered voters, according to the county election results. Results became official Nov. 22.
Bradford Woods terms are four years, and members of Council shall be elected to serve staggered four-year terms on a four-to-three basis, according to the Bradford Woods website. New council members will begin their terms at the start of the year.
Bradford Woods Mayor Douglas Marsico won, running uncontested.
