Norwin area: ‘Woofstock,’ library programs planned; code enforcement officer sought

Pet Friends to host ‘Woofstock’ concert

Pet Friends will be hosting its annual Woofstock benefit outdoor concert from 2 to 9 p.m. July 31 at Quinn Brewing Co., Banco Business Park, 2000 Commerce Loop, 1061 Main St., North Huntingdon.

The fundraiser will feature local bands: Soulios, The Rust Project and Big Trouble. There will be food trucks and craft vendors.

VIP packages are available until July 21 for $15 and include a Woofstock T-shirt, custom beer glass and entry into a special lottery raffle.

Irwin seeks code enforcement officer

Irwin Borough is once again seeking a code enforcement officer.

Donald Harvey was hired by the borough in May as a part-time code enforcement officer at a rate of $15.45 per hour, but remained on the job for only four days, said Shari Martino, borough manager.

The job will be advertised as a full-time position with a higher pay rate of $18 per hour.

Council authorized Martino to advertise for candidates for the job.

Norwin library holds summer programs

The Norwin Public Library on Caruthers Lane, Irwin, is holding several summer programs for children.

• Kid Ventures in Yoga will feature three sessions with “animal yoga” for children ages five and older, on July 15 at the library at 11 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

• Magician Steve Haberman will perform his magic tricks at 1 p.m. July 19 at Indian Lake Park, Clay Pike, North Huntingdon.

• The performing company Stage Right! of Greensburg will present “I Want to Be a Dinosaur” at 6 p.m. July 19 at Indian Lake.

• Cartoonist Joe Wos will demonstrate his work in a program at 11 a.m. July 22 at the library.

Registration is required for all programs.
