Norwin area: St. Patrick’s Day celebration, Vietnam War observance, more

Irwin to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Downtown Irwin will be the site of a pre-St. Patrick’s Day festival featuring Irish music, traditional Irish food, beer and activities for children from noon to 4 p.m. March 12.

Restaurants will be serving Irish-themed delicacies and there will be shamrock scavenger hunt.

Children’s games will be at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Hall, Fifth and Main streets.

St. Patrick will be handing out rubber snakes, green derbies and green beads, while they last. St. Patrick also will be available for photos.

There will be caricatures drawn by Ray Kuchinka at Feathers store, 102 Fourth St. Mike the Balloon Guy will be at Gift Basket World and Candy Shop, 419 Main St.

Norwin Elks to honor Vietnam War vets

The Norwin Elks will hold its Vietnam War Veterans Day ceremony from noon to 2 p.m. March 29 at the Norwin Elks Lodge, 135 Elks Lane, Manor.

Veterans of the Vietnam War and all other veterans will be able to enjoy a complementary luncheon. The doors will open at 11:30 a.m.

Because of covid restrictions in 2020 and 2021, the Norwin Elks was not able to recognize the veterans.

Mon Yough Chorale seeks singers

The Mon Yough Chorale is seeking singers for its spring session.

Rehearsals are held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sundays at Sampson’s Mills Presbyterian Church, 1665 Lincoln Way, White Oak.

All voices are welcomed and no audition is required.

The chorale is accepting only fully vaccinated singers at this time.

Norwin softball group to hold registration

Norwin Senior Softball Association will hold sign-ups from 9 to 11 a.m. on March 23 and 30 at the PAL Complex in Shafton.

The league is for men and women ages 55 and older.

The cost to register is $15. For more information, contact Bob at 724-392-4847.
