Flu shots available at church
Flu vaccinations will be provided at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 12727 Lincoln Way, North Huntingdon, at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 27, after worship service.
Those receiving the shot do not need to participate in the service.
The church will follow Centers for Disease Control guidelines for wearing a mask and maintaining social distance. Those getting the shot need to bring their medical insurance card.
Lions Clubs to sell barbecue chicken
The Stewartsville Lions Club will hold a barbecue chicken sale beginning at 11 a.m. Sept. 27 at Holiday Travel along Route 30, across from Norwin Town Square in North Huntingdon.
The meal is $8 and is available until sellout.
St. Agnes Parish holds outdoor Masses
St. Agnes Parish in North Huntingdon is offering an outside Mass at 5 p.m. Sundays at St. Agnes Lane, through the end of October.
Those attending can bring their own chairs and sit on the lawn or remain in their cars and tune into 87.9 FM on their radio to hear the service.
Ministers of Communion will come to those who wish to stay in their vehicles. To get communion, participants should turn on their vehicle’s flashing lights.
“It is our hope that this evening, outdoor Mass, will help those who are vulnerable, or living with someone who is immune compromised, to attend Mass and receive communion,” said Sandy Moiner, director of pastoral ministry.
Norwin Republicans to meet
The District Three Republican Committee for the Norwin area will meet at 7 p. m. Sept. 29 at the former Norwin Resources Community Center, 231 Jennie Drive, North Huntingdon.
The committee will hold its annual picnic at Pine Pavilion, Oak Hollow Park, North Huntingdon, from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 3.
The cost is $10 per person or $15 per family. Checks should be payable to the Westmoreland County Republican Committee and sent to Gabriel Homan, 716 Gaskill Ave., Jeannette, Pa., 15644.
Those attending should bring a side dish or a dessert.

North Huntingdon man recognized
Adam Kitta of North Huntingdon was awarded the Pittsburgh Technical College Community Service Award, given to a single student from each graduating class who has made significant contributions to the region while enrolled at PTC.
Kitta, a 2017 Norwin High School graduate, earned an associate degree in criminal justice and was presented the award at a virtual commencement ceremony.
Kitta is working as the volunteer coordinator and deputy director of operations with The Salvation Army in Pittsburgh. Much of the community service for which he was recognized was devoted to The Salvation Army.
