Ross Township police are investigating a crash that killed a 17-year-old boy Sunday.

Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased at Jacob Weiland of Pittsburgh.

The crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m. along the 300 block of McIntyre Road.

Weiland was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s report.

Township police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash and the investigation is ongoing.

Police told WPXI there were no signs of drugs or alcohol and the likely cause was speed.

There was a post on the North Hills School District website mourning the loss of a former student Sunday night.

Counseling services will be available at the high school, according to the post.
