Vivian Marek, dressed in a witch costume, is joined by Nicholas Brozovich (Paw Patrol Marshall) and Mason Merriman (Spiderman) as Alexandra Fleisner (Jessie) and Carly Clark (Ms. Potato Head) take them on a Halloween visit to Terrace Place at Vincentian in McCandless on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020. The preschoolers from Vincentian Child Development Center circled the building as residents of the independent living community waved to them from their apartment balconies.

Preschoolers from the Vincentian Child Development Center dressed up as their favorite characters to help lift the spirits of residents at Terrace Place at Vincentian on Tuesday with a Halloween parade.

The kids circled the grounds of the independent living community and waved to residents, sang Halloween songs and were rewarded with treats.

“Since a lot of residents in our facilities haven’t been able to get out much to visit with family because of the pandemic, we thought it would be nice for them to be able to see the kids dressed in their Halloween costumes,” said Becky Mohr-O’Shea, program coordinator for the child development center.

She said the kids were thrilled to participate.

“If we let them, they’d dress up in their costumes every day,” she said.

After the parade at Terrace Place, the kids performed an encore at Vincentian Villa in McCandless.

“We know the importance of getting folks of all ages together to interact and learn from each other,” said J. Jude Hazard, a spokesman for Vincentian. “Programs like this Halloween parade is just another way we are connecting the generations.”
