Northland Radio Hour presents July 11 mystery program

Join Northland Public Library staff members as they perform the mystery “Candy Matson, Yukon 2-8209” at 6:30 p.m. July 11.

You can view it in person to watch the recording process by registering online, in person at the Ask a Librarian Desk or by calling 412-366-8100, ext. 113.

Other library programs include:

Folktale Fridays

Folk tales from many times and places are told through storytelling, puppetry and song for children ages 3 and up. No registration is required.

The program continues from 10:30 to 11 a.m. July 5, 12, 19 and 26.

Monster Slayers

Scheduled from 3 to 4:30 p.m. July 15, Monster Slayers is a simple Dungeons & Dragons-inspired role-playing game that does not require any prior experience.

Players must be able to read independently to participate in this program for children ages 7 to 10. Registration is required.

Afternoon Video Gaming

An hour of video gaming is presented for participants ages 12 to 18 from 3:30 to 4:30 the second Monday of each month. No registration is required.

Summer reading program

Northland Public Library’s “Read, Renew, Repeat” summer reading program runs until July 31, for youngsters through age 18.

Register at northlandlibrary.readsquared.com. Log the books you read to become eligible for prizes. Stop in the library for games, activities and, of course, books.

Bookshelf Bingo

Bookshelf Bingo, the library’s adult summer reading challenge, has begun. Every book you read through Aug. 31 qualifies you for a chance to win a $25 Target or Trader Joe’s gift card every two weeks, plus one of two grand prizes at the end of the summer.

Decaf Tea and Stitches

Whether you enjoy knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, embroidery or something in between, work on your project while chatting with other crafters from 6 to 8 p.m. the third Thursday of each month.

Tea and snacks will be provided. No registration is required. All experience levels are welcome. Email colemank2@northlandlibrary.org if you’re interested in joining.

Summer hours

The library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. It is closed Sunday.
