The North Hills School District has hired a veteran educator and coach to serve as principal for the middle school.

LaMont Lyons’ contract was approved by the district’s school board on June 3. He replaces David Lieberman, who announced this spring that he is retiring.

Lyons began his career in education as a middle school language arts teacher at Ringgold Middle School in 2004, where he also served as a football, basketball and softball coach.

He spent four years as an assistant high school principal/alternative education principal at Woodland Hills High School, four years as an assistant principal at Chartiers Valley Middle School and the past two years as an assistant principal at City Charter High School in Pittsburgh.

“Mr. Lyons will begin his employment with the district next week and we are happy and excited to welcome him to the North Hills family,” said Superintendent Patrick Mannarino.

Lyons is a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership.
