As coronavirus cases continue to surge in Allegheny County and across the country, communities in the North Hills vary on the number of cases, case rates and deaths due to the virus.
As of Dec. 16, there have been 1,225 total cases of the novel coronavirus in Ross Township since March, according to the latest information provided by an interactive Allegheny County covid-19 map. Fifty-one deaths have been reported, and 7,862 tests have been administered to Ross residents.
In that same timeframe, McCandless has reported 822 cases and 27 deaths; Franklin Park has reported 395 cases and 12 deaths; Bellevue has reported 245 cases and no deaths, Ohio Township has reported 206 cases and one death; Marshall has reported 191 cases and no deaths; West View has reported 165 cases and one death; and Bradford Woods has reported 33 cases and no deaths.
Based on population, Ohio Twp. has the highest case rate of all of the North Journal’s communities at 433 per 10,000.
