Weeknight and weekend lane restrictions scheduled to begin Sept. 26 on northbound I-79 in Franklin Park are expected to continue through mid-October, PennDOT announced.
The restrictions will occur on the bridge over southbound I-279 (Parkway North) from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weeknights and from 7 p.m. Friday nights continuously through 6 a.m. on Monday mornings.
Intermittent lane restrictions may occur on southbound I-79 while the work occurs.
Crews will conduct deck, scupper, barrier and railing repairs. Additionally, approach slab replacement work will occur.
The work is part of the $26.49 million I-79 improvement project. Improvements include four bridge deck replacements, one bridge preservation, milling and resurfacing, preservation work on seven sign structures, installation of new signs, guide rail improvements, signage updates and pavement marking installation. Crossovers will occur on I-79 in 2022 and 2023 for bridge deck replacement work.
The prime contractor is the Joseph B. Fay Co. Work will be coordinated with other projects in the area, PennDOT said.
