Ninth annual Young Writers Institute

The Fellow of the Western PA Writing Project is holding its ninth Young Writers Institute this summer for rising fifth through seventh graders.

The Institute will be the week of July 26-30 from 9 a.m. to noon in Wexford at the Atlas Art Studio, 75 Shenot Road.

It will feature guest writer Cameron Barrett from Pittsburgh, who has won numerous awards as a poet. The Westmoreland Museum will also visit and attendees will write about art.

Marshall hosting movie in the park

Marshall Township is hosting its first free Movie in the Park for the season June 11.

The animated DreamWorks film “The Croods 2: A New Age” will begin at dusk at Neil McFadden Field in Knob Hill Community Park located at 415 Knob Road. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.

McCandless seeks applicants for advisory posts

The Town of McCandless is seeking applicants to fill terms on the Personnel Board, the Environmental Advisory Committee and the Heritage Center Financial Development and Promotional Committee.

To apply, fill out the application and email it to administration@townofmccandless.org or mail/hand-deliver to Town of McCandless, 9955 Grubbs Road, Wexford, PA 15090.

The deadline to apply is June 10 at 5 p.m.
