The Block Northway Farmers Market

The Block Northway continues to feature weekly entertainment during the Farmer’s Market and Food Truck events. Brandon Krul will perform on Sept. 17. The Farmer’s Market, produced in partnership with I Made It Market, is a weekly farmer’s market featuring a diverse collection of local vendors offering fresh, locally grown produce, local meats and cheeses, canned goods, local honey, fine spirits, flowers, unique hand-made gifts and much more. History & sports

The McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage Center will host a special presentation on the history of North Allegheny and North Hills-area football, featuring special guests Bob Miller, former NA head coach; Dick Krotzer, former NA assistant coach; Dr. Wilton Barber, former NA principal and assistant coach; Ron Dominick, former NA assistant coach; and Jack McCurry, former North Hills head coach.

The presentation will take place at 6 p.m. Sept. 23, and will be followed outdoors by a tailgate party from 6:45 to 9 p.m. hosted by the North Allegheny Football Parents Association.

• On Sept. 30 at 7 p.m., at the McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage Center will host Jim Haller, who will guide attendees through the deep baseball tradition of the Steel City — from the very first World Series game, to Mazeroski and Clemente, and even all the way down to the simple thrills of a childhood pickup game.

Haller is a long-standing member of the Society for American Baseball Research and has been a docent and ambassador at the Heinz History Center for more than a decade.

Both events are free and open to the public. The Heritage Center is located on Aufman Lane (off Grubbs Road between Town Hall and the Ambulance Authority building).

Other fabulous attractions include the Zombie Compound, the Zombie Maze, story tellers, bonfires and outdoor movies. Fire dancers and tasty treats will keep everyone entertained and happy.

Parking will be handled by the Sunrise Rotary Club of Cranberry Township, which will be collecting donations for Voice – the local domestic violence agency in Butler.

Family Resources Charity Golf event

Family Resources will host a fundraising golf event at Shannopin Country Club on Sept. 27. Ryan Recker, from WTAE-TV, will serve as the celebrity host for the golf event, Chipping Away At Child Abuse With Ryan Recker & Friends.

Proceeds from the event will be used by Family Resources in its work to recognize and treat trauma. The effects of the covid-19 pandemic have drastically increased parental stress, which leads to child abuse and neglect, therefore creating the need for more mental health services for children and their families.

The event features a team scramble format and includes many local celebrities who will join Ryan to further Family Resources’ mission. Tee-off time is 11 a.m. and participation includes green fees, golf carts, a boxed lunch, 19th hole refreshments and prizes.

Local corporations, businesses, and individuals who wish to support Family Resources and participate in the event can sign-up and register at www.familyresouces.org.

Ladies Day Out

Take the day off for an afternoon of food, prizes, shopping, raffles and fun, as St. Barnabas Charities hosts an exclusive Ladies Day Out on Sept. 18 at Trees Manor at St. Barnabas.

Ladies Day Out runs 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Tickets include chances to win prizes valued at more than $5,000 drawn every 30 minutes (cash, Chloe handbag, getaways and more), in addition to shopping with exclusive vendors, cocktails and delicious food stations provided by Il Pizzaiolo. There will also be themed baskets and 50/50 raffles. The event includes indoor festivities, as well as tented outdoor space.

You do not need to be present to win – you can still buy a ticket and be eligible to win prizes.

Tickets are $80 per person, and include a chance to win prizes, food, shopping, cocktails and more.

Buy tickets today at StBarnabasCharities.com or call 724-625-3770. Volunteer opportunities are also available.
