Seibert Road work

Roadway improvement work on Route 4016 (Seibert Road) in Ross began last week.

Improvement work includes milling and paving, drainage upgrades, base and shoulder repairs, guide rail updates, pavement markings, and other various construction related activities.

Single lane restrictions are occouring on Seibert Road between Babcock Boulevard and Thompson Run Road daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through mid-November.

During the paving operations, time restrictions will be extended. Additional details will be provided in advance of the start of the work, according to PennDOT.

The prime contractor on this $5.24 million group paving project is A. Folino Construction.

Senior crime prevention

Ascension Lutheran Church, 8225 Peebles Road near McIntyre Square, will welcome Detective Sergeant Eric Egli, supervisor of investigations of the McCandless Police Department, to present “Crimes Targeting Senior Citizens” on Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. Egli will help attendees to protect themselves from online scams, phone scams and distraction crimes.

AARP meeting

AARP #595 welcomes members and guests to its September meeting featuring the Crooks & Klein Duo singing solos and duets of traditional, religious, oldies and big band tunes. Meetings are the first Tuesday of the month at Hampton Presbyterian Church, 2842 E. Hardies Road in Gibsonia. Annual membership is $7 per person. Join for fun, friendship and great trips.

Depreciation Lands Museum events

Mark your calendars for these events at Depreciation Lands Museum, 4743 S. Pioneer Road in Hampton:

• Flax to Linen, 1-4 p.m. Aug 28. Come to watch the process and perhaps to lend a hand. Admission is charged.

• Hydref, the museum’s fall festival, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 1. The museum comes alive with re-enactors, demonstrators, craftspeople, food, music and children’s activities. Admission is charged.

• Lantern tours, 6-9 p.m. Oct. 15 and 22. A quiet, family-oriented, historical alternative to Halloween. Prepaid tickets are required.

• Beggar’s Day, Sunday, 1-4 p.m. Oct. 30. The last Sunday to visit the museum for the season offers old-fashioned Halloween “begging” for all costumed children.
