McCandless technology committee
The Town of McCandless is seeking applicants for two positions on the Technology Advisory Committee.
The terms expire June 30, 2025.
The committee helps develop and recommend policies and programs to town council to preserve and enhance aspects of the character of the municipality and to address technology issues.
To apply, fill out the application and email it to administration@townofmccandless.org or mail/hand-deliver it to Town of McCandless, 9955 Grubbs Road, Wexford, PA 15090.
The deadline to apply is July 6 at 5 p.m.
Long-time crossing guard honored
McCandless council presented an award of recognition at its June 14 meeting to Marlene Vogel in honor of her 27 years as a crossing guard with the town’s police department.
The award was presented by Councilwoman Angela Woods.
Town officials noted that Vogel has “cared for and kept safe a great number of children throughout her career and has made a significant positive impact in our community.”
Blueberry Hill courts closure
All fields and courts in Blueberry Hill Park will be closed Monday thru Friday on the following weeks from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for scheduled summer camps.
The facilities, which include the pickleball, basketball and volleyball courts are scheduled to be closed June 28-July 2, July 12-16 and Aug. 9- 13.
Signs will be posted in the park notifying visitors that the courts are closed to the public.
Vacation Bible School
Ascension Lutheran Church at 8225 Peebles Road in McCandless is hosting a vacation Bible school on July 12-15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Kids entering Pre-K to sixth grade are invited to enjoy making crafts, playing games, making music and learning what the Bible says about the one true God. Register at ascensionpgh.myanswers.com/mystery-island.
