Free shred day

First Choice Advisors and Equitable Advisors are hosting a free shred day from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 14 at 11269 Perry Hwy. in Wexford. Items that can be shredded include tax returns, investment records, bank statements, canceled checks, pay stubs, credit card statements, personal documents, photos and more.

Citizen of the Year nominations

Founded in 2019, the Durachko-Gottfried Ross Township Citizen of the Year Award is presented annually to a Ross Township individual, or a group of individuals, who has made a meaningful and significant impact on the community. Recipients have demonstrated a commitment to having made considerable, noteworthy and long-lasting contributions to the lives of our residents and their families through the same selfless and caring manner displayed by the remarkable citizens for whom this award is named. Please complete and submit a Citizen of the Year nomination form online at pa-rosstownship.civicplus.com. The deadline to nominate is Oct. 27.

Immunization clinic

West View HUB will be the site of Pathways Immunization Clinic from 4-6 p.m. Oct. 12. Vaccines for flu, pneumonia, shingles and more will be available. For more information or to register, visit westviewhub.org.

Sealarks

Sealarks Women’s Group will meet at 1 p.m. on Oct. 11 at Memorial Park Church, 8800 Peebles Road, McCandless. The group provides Christian fellowship and social activity for women alone. All women alone are welcome to attend and consider joining the group. Elissa Scalesse Powell of North Hills Genealogists will present an introduction to genealogy. St. John’s Lutheran Church

Three groups at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Perrysville will be holding an event from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 14. The proceeds will support local and worldwide charities as well as ongoing community service projects.

The Men of St. John’s will hold a flea market with more than 25 vendors. The Women of St. John’s will hold its Christian Closet where shoppers can fill a bag (provided by us) of gently worn clothing, shoes and accessories for a minimum donation of $5. The Youth of St. John’s will have baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs and other treats for sale throughout the event.

The church is located at 920 Perry Highway in Ross. Enter at the lower-level rear entrance. For more information, call the church office at 412-364-6626.

AARP

AARP #2991 meets at noon on the third Thursday of each month at Northmont Presbyterian Church, 8169 Perry Hwy. Join us for dessert, bingo, entertainment, socialization and much more. We have trips scheduled for you to join us. Dues $10 a year. Membership drive in September and October. Every visitor will receive a raffle ticket (join and get two tickets). The drawing will be done in October.
