If you’re a regular jogger at the Franklin Regional Senior High School’s track inside Panther Stadium, you’ll need to find a new place to get those laps in this summer.

The stadium will close for the summer June 8, as work crews prepare to returf the field and resurface the track, part of a $1.78 million district capital improvement plan approved for 2019-20.

The $1.2 million project, which includes the football field as well as resurfacing the surrounding track, accounts for the bulk of next year’s capital improvement plan.

The turf was last resurfaced in 2009. Fencing inside Panther Stadium will be replaced at a cost of $55,000.

District officials will notify the community when the stadium reopens, spokeswoman Cara Zanella posted in the “Franklin Regional Community” Facebook page.
