TSA explosive detection dog hangs up leash

Baro, a Transportation Security Administration explosives detection canine, will be retiring Thurday after seven years of service at Pittsburgh International Airport.

The 9-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer has been in service since 2017 working with handler Lawrence Sharp.

As part of a special event Thursday, Baro will be charged with finding a decoy device in a training exercise. Once the device is found, it will trigger the surprise of his retirement party.

Popular children’s group coming to Pittsburgh

A child-friendly pop concert is heading to the Pittsburgh area this summer.

KIDZ BOP, a children’s music group that performs family-friendly covers of pop songs, is on a nationwide tour, KIDZ BOP LIVE 2024, and will stop at The Pavilion at Star Lake at 7 p.m. Aug. 16.

The KIDZ BOP Kids will perform current big hits live, including “Espresso,” “greedy” and “Lil Boo Thang.”
