For several years, every week during the academic year, Monroeville Christian Church has hosted groups from multiple special-needs schools.

The church works with the students and staff, helping to provide them with a safe and inviting place to learn basic life and trade skills. Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s Sunrise School of Monroeville is one of the schools and has been part of the program for most of its existence.

One of the church’s evangelists, Covey Wise, plus the church secretary, Jan Ronallo, and her husband, Ron, were invited to Sunrise School to accept two awards. The school presented Monroeville Christian Church with its annual Silver Star Award for being an outstanding community partner, and honored Jan Ronallo with a special certificate of appreciation for her direct work with the students, the first time the school has given such a certificate.
