Monroeville police on Monday charged a Turtle Creek man as a suspect in a robbery-turned-shooting outside an Olive Garden restaurant.

Accorie Wilder-Mack, 22, is charged with assault, robbery, conspiracy, carrying a firearm without a license and several misdemeanors in connection with the March 12 shooting.

A criminal complaint filed in the case said Wilder-Mack arrived at the Italian restaurant near the Monroeville Mall shortly before 9:30 p.m. and began asking to use “Matt’s discount.” After he was told no one named Matt worked at the restaurant, employees reported that Wilder-Mack loitered around the lobby vaping until he finally heeded requests to leave, police said.

Police said Wilder-Mack went to a side door and asked the employee who opened the door for “Matt’s discount” again. He then pulled out an iPhone and, while the alleged victim couldn’t see anyone on the screen, he heard a voice he recognized on the other end of the FaceTime call, according to the complaint.

Wilder-Mack said the person on the other end of the call was in a car outside the restaurant, and the alleged victim, a 19-year-old employee, followed Wilder-Mack outside and got in the car, according to the complaint. Realizing he did not know the person in the car, he began to leave, but Wilder-Mack allegedly pointed a gun at the man’s leg and demanded “all you got,” police said.

The two struggled over the gun and, while shots went off, no one was struck, the complaint said. The employee got control of the gun and began to run back toward the restaurant, telling police he heard Wilder-Mack say “spark him” to the driver, and the employee was subsequently shot in the leg, police said.

Wilder-Mack followed the employee back into the restaurant lobby, where they again struggled over the gun, according to the complaint. Wilder-Mack got the gun and took off, while the employee was treated by co-workers and bystanders until first responders arrived.

The employee and three witnesses picked Wilder-Mack out of a photo array, police said.

Monroeville police filed the charges against Wilder-Mack on Friday and he was taken into custody the same day, court records show.
