The Monroeville Memorial Day Parade will kick off at 9 a.m. May 27.
The parade, organized by American Legion Gold Star Post 820, begins at Valley Honda, 4221 William Penn Highway. The route continues onto Northern Pike, across the overpass, then Monroeville Boulevard and ends at Old Stone Church at 2700 Stroschein Road.
The parade will culminate with a memorial service at the Old Stone Church featuring guest speakers including Mayor Nick Gresock, state Rep. Brandon Markosek and other dignitaries.
A free picnic with hotdogs and burgers will be held at the post, at 4339 Old William Penn Highway.
Post Cmdr. Regis Dugan said he expects 40 to 50 groups to participate in the parade, which has been going strong for about 50 years.
“I remember going to a (Memorial Day) parade when I was 6, and I’m almost 56,” Dugan said. “So it’s somewhere around 50 years.”
