Monroeville budget hearings set

Public hearings for Monroeville’s 2024 proposed budget are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 in council chambers at the municipal building, 2700 Monroeville Blvd.

The final budget is subject to council approval.

Trick-or-treat times

Monroeville Halloween trick-or-treating will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Monroeville Arts Council concert

The Monroeville Arts Council Concert Series continues with a performance by Larry Cervi’s East End Kids on Dec. 3.

The concert is from 4 to 6 p.m. in the CCAC Boyce Campus auditorium, 595 Beatty Road, and is presented by the arts council and UPMC East.

Pancake breakfast, bake sale

Garden City United Methodist Church is hosting a pancake breakfast and bake sale from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 28 at Laurel Drive in Monroeville.

The all-you-can-eat breakfast is $9 for adults and $4 for children ages 4-12. Children 3 and younger eat for free.

International Women meet

International Women will meet at 9.30 a.m. Nov. 3 at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, 2310 Haymaker Road, Monroeville.

The meeting will start with the program “How Could This Happen? My Family from the Monarchy to Today” by poet and author Helga M. Mears, born in Germany during World War II, who fled from the Russians to West Germany with her parents and older sister. In 1970, she moved to the United States, where she became a high school teacher and an adjunct at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.

A welcome is extended to all women in the community, whether foreign- or American-born, who are interested in spending a morning over coffee and the program of the month.

Church service honors veterans

Hillcrest United Presbyterian Church will be hosting a Veterans Appreciation Day service with a musical presentation during the 11 a.m. service Nov. 12, followed by a reception.

All veterans and their families are invited to attend. The church is at 1622 James St., Monroeville.

Food pantry distributions

The Garden City Food Pantry distributes food on the second Thursday of each month, from 9 to 11 a.m. and 6 to 7 p.m.

Upcoming distributions are Nov. 9 and Dec. 14 at 500 Laurel Drive, Monroeville.
